The Iranian envoy, Khadijeh Karimi, made the comment at the first meeting of the 35th Special Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday. The meeting was convened following an official request on November 11 by Germany and Iceland.
Karimi expressed regret that the Human Rights Council is being misused by a group of what she called bulling governments.
She added, it is shameful that these governments are using this council for political purposes.
The Iranian envoy also spoke out against Germany’s move to call for the session, saying that the politically-motivated measure is actually an organized plot that has a hidden agenda, but it will gain no results.
She dismissed the West’s expressing concern about the human rights situation in Iran, calling it deceptive at the time when the rights of the Iranian people have already been violated due to sanctions imposed by the United States and implemented by European countries including Germany, Britain and France.
“These countries lack the moral credibility to advise others and call for a special session on Iran,” Karimi stressed.
The Iranian envoy also referred to the September death of 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini. She said while investigations were underway into her death, some Western states provoked Iranians’ feelings and caused rioting in Iran.
Karimi meanwhile criticized Persian-language new networks based in the UK and the US for spreading lies and encouraging violence in Iran, saying that hundreds of Iranian security forces were killed and injured as a result, while massive destruction of public property was caused.
