Tehran, IRNA – The European Union has neglected all global regulations and imposed sanctions on the Iranian English language TV network “Press TV” under the pretext of backing democracy and human rights, while freedom of press is the Fourth Pillar of Democracy.

The action by the EU indicates a double standard in dealing with the media outlets when it comes to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Western states claim that they are the flagbearer of supporting freedom of speech and human rights, as they embark on imposing sanctions on a TV network.

The paradox is unacceptable and unreasonable, but the international institutes, which are backing freedom of the press, have shown no reaction in this respect because they themselves are under the supervision and domination of certain European countries.

However, it should be seen as an opportunity and a wake-up call for the Iranian side to take lessons from threats against Iran’s TV networks such as al-Alam and Press TV, and reach the conclusion that the psychological warfare against the international networks of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) proves that these media outlets have been successful in conveying the message of the Islamic Revolution to the world public.

It is worth mentioning that the international TV networks of the IRIB have shown that they have caused concern among the foes, as the drones and missiles of the Islamic country did; thus, the Iranian authorities are expected to pay more heed to develop networks such as HispanTV, Sahar TV, Al-Kawthar TV, Hausa TV and so on.

When there are numerous media outlets, which are disseminating news stories and analyses in Persian, creating and improving international news agencies and TV networks in English, Russian, Arabic, Azeri, French, Latin, and other languages can have results more than expected because the hasty imposition of sanctions on Press TV proves the reality.
