Ilam, IRNA – Iran exported 1,944,000 tons of goods worth $898 million to Iraq and other countries via Mehran border crossing located in Ilam Province during the first six months of the Iranian calendar year (started March 21), said Director-General of Ilam Customs Administration Ruhollah Gholami

Gholami said to IRNA on Monday that the amount of goods transited from Mehran border crossing during the first six months of the current year exceeded more than 99,000 tons.

Gholami in his remarks added that 500 trucks cross Mehran border every day, and during the first six months of the current fiscal year more than 81,000 trucks crossed this international border.

The director-general of Ilam Customs Administration said that Iran exported goods worth $1,161,000,000 to Iraq and other countries via Mehran border crossing located in Ilam Province last year.

Located 230 km from Baghdad, Mehran is Iran’s closest border city to the Iraqi capital.
