Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Asghar Khaji and his Russian counterpart Sergey Vershinin, in a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, reviewed the latest regional and international developments including what is going on in Syria, Libya, and Yemen.

The Russian deputy foreign minister is in the Iranian capital on the head of a delegation.

Referring to the improved stability and security in Syria, the Iranian official urged the need for economic reconstruction in the country and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people.

Khaji also stressed the necessity for the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia and increased support of the international community to help the reconstruction process in Syria.

The two officials also discussed the developments on the ground in Libya and Yemen, and stressed the need for efforts to preserve solidarity and territorial integrity in the country without the intervention of aliens.

The Iranian side highlighted the significance of extending a ceasefire deal in Yemen to help proceed with political dialogue to bring about peace and stability in the country.
