Iran’s state news agency undertook presidency over the organization on the closing day of the 18th OANA general assembly in the Iranian capital.
Addressing the participants, IRNA Managing-Director Ali Naderi said that the Iranian agency will do its best to help promote relations between member news agencies during the new tenure.
He noted that these relations have to be guided in the path of independent and impartial dissemination of information based on providing facts to the audience.
Naderi also thanked South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency that chaired the organization over the past three years.
The 18th General Assembly meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), which had kicked off in Tehran on Monday, came to an end after issuing a final statement on Tuesday.
Some 60 GEOs, managers or chief editors from 35 member news agencies were present at the two-day event.
