Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Monday that developing effective cooperation with regional organizations is one of the top agendas of his administration’s foreign policy.

The president made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Secretary-General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Salman Al Farisi.  

He urged the need for further convergence among the member states so as to make maximum use of the potential of the association.

President Raisi expressed Iran’s readiness to share its capabilities with other IORA member countries.

Referring to good cooperation between Iran and IORA, the Iranian president called for further activation of the association in different areas, particularly in water economy, empowerment of women, and scientific and technological cooperation as well.

The IORA secretary-general, for his part, expressed satisfaction with his visit to Tehran and said that Iran has been an active member of the association whose chairmanship over the secretariat was exemplary.

He also hailed Iran’s chairmanship of the women empowerment working group of the association and said that the country has also provided significant services in the association’s desk of knowledge and technology.
