Tehran, IRNA – Consular Director General of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alireza Mahmoudi on Monday criticized the imposition of double standards by the Western governments on migrants.

Mahmoudi met and held talks with the Head of the International Center for the Development of Immigration Policies in Vienna, Austria on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the essential issues of mutual interest.

Referring to the costs that Iran has paid for more than 5 million Afghans over the past four decades which has heavy burden on the Iranian economy, Mahmoudi stressed the determination of Iran, as well as the emphasis of the authorities to address the affairs of Afghan refugees, especially in the field of their education and health needs.

He also criticized the imposition of double standards by Western governments on migrants.

Stressing the need to develop cooperation with Iran and paying attention to its important position in managing migration, the Head of the International Center for the Development of Immigration Policies called for the development of joint dialogues and cooperation.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue talks on multifaceted migration issues.
