Tehran, IRNA – The United States has established its relations with the people of Iran based on a set of paradoxes for decades that include many issues from sanctions to human rights and even to medicines needed to cure chronic diseases.

The White House for example has moved to provide Iranians with Starlink internet in the wake of internet restrictions in place to quell the ongoing riots but has refused to provide Iranian cancer patients with the required drugs. The US also says it wants negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program, but at the same time continues to impose sanctions against the country.

It might happen in any country that some groups express dissatisfaction with issues like election results, gas price hikes, or ratification by the government. The point is that those issues are regarded as internal matters which should be addressed and decided on by the political system of that specific country.

But whenever each of those cases happens in Iran, it becomes the focus of interference, sanctions, and stances against the country, providing the US Departments of State and Treasury with new excuses to impose additional sanctions on Iran.

Following the sad death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, the US and certain European states reiterated accusations against the Islamic Republic and interfered in the country’s internal affairs.

The United States Department of Treasury issued a meddlesome statement to show support for protesters in Iran and agreed to issue a general license to provide Iranians with international internet.

In an attempt to show support for Iranian protesters, the US also imposed new sanctions on Iranian entities and figures as well as three Boeing airplanes, which provide Russia with transit services.

The European Union, Paris, and some other capitals in the green continent urged the international community to react to unrest in Iran when some of the Iranian embassies were raided by anti-Iranian protesters.

Canada imposed sanctions on nine Iranian entities, 25 individuals, and 10,000 members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Yes to the internet, but no to medicine!

Sanction has been the main tool for the United States and its allies over the last four decades in order to put pressure on the Islamic Republic.

The US has misused human rights and the claim of suppression of Iranian protesters with the aim of intensifying its sanction policy against the country, while Washington has a long history of threatening the livelihood and even the health of the Iranian people.

The four-decade-long embargo has affected the production of critical medicines and even the import of medical equipment and medications such as those needed by cancer patients.

The transactions with pharmaceutical companies in the world have been very hard due to the sanctions. The US has also sanctioned the only firm in Iran, which procures radioactive medications for nuclear medicine centers, affecting the lives of more than one million patients.

Now, with such a human rights record, the Biden administration plans to provide the Iranian people with internet by the use of Starlink satellite.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian reacted to the US’s double standard, when it comes to the Iranian people’s rights, noting that the US should stop shedding crocodile tears for the Iranians and halt economic terrorism.
