Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s national football team overcame Uruguaya 1-0 in Austria on Friday.

The Iranian and Uruguayan national football teams met at NV Arena football stadium in Sankt Pölten, central Austria, Friday evening.

The match was held as a part of the World Cup warm-up games in Austria. The World Cup is scheduled to be held in Qatar from November 20, 2022.

Mehdi Taremi, an Iranian professional football player who plays as a striker for Primeira Liga club Porto and the Iran national team, scored the only goal of this friendly match.

Although it was already announced that the match was scheduled to be held without the presence of any spectators at the Austrian stadium, some fans were present there to cheer their teams.

Following the uplifting match, the Iranian national football team is going to meet the Senegalese team on Tuesday.
