The 2022 Sofia Junior World Taekwondo Championship began on Tuesday, August 2, in the presence of 786 taekwondo champions from 91 countries around the globe in Multifunctional Sports Hall of Sofia and after six days of competitions, the Iranian boys and girls’ teams both ranked the world 2nd best.
In girls’ competitions, the South Korea team gained five gold, a silver and a bronze medal, 718 points and the world champion rank. The eight-member Iranian team gained two gold and two silver medals, 370 points and the second best team’s rank. Thailand gained one gold and a bronze medal, 211 points, and the third place in the world.
In boys’ section, the Iranian five-member team gained the glorious result of four gold medals, 509 points, and the world second best team’s status.
In this section, the South Korea’s ten-member team gained 5 gold, a silver, a bronze, 720 points and the world top champion status, and Kazakhstan’s two-member team with a silver, four bronze and 143 points ranked 3rd.
Sogand Shiri, Mobina Nematzadeh, Abolfazl Zandi, Reza Kohler, Abolfazl Abbasi and Matin Rezaie gained Iran’s 6 gold medla, and Parnia Salmani and Daqar Moradi got our teams’ two silver medals.
Fatemeh Safrour was the head coach of the Iranian senior girls’s team, and Behzad Khodadad the head coach of the senor boys’ team.
