Tehran, IRNA – Iranian men and women gained victories in the Round 2 of the 44th Chess Olympiad taking place in the Indian city of Chennai from July 28 to August 10, 2022.

On Saturday, Iran’s Open Team won against Ireland 2.5-1.5.

Playing on board one, grandmaster Parham Maghsoudlou defeated Alexander Baburin, a grandmaster too.

On board two, grandmaster Mohammad Amin Tabatabaie lost to Conor Murphy who has the title of International Master.

On board three, grandmaster Pouya Aideni defeated Tom O`Gorman, a FIDE master.

On board four, International Master Khalil Mousavi drew level with FIDE Master Tarun Kanyamarala.

In the Women’s section, Iranian chess players defeated their Uruguayan competitors 4-0 in the Round 2.

Sahar Ma’soumi, Anousha Mahdian, Anahita Zahedifar, Mitra Asgharzadeh, all holding the title of FIDE master, defeated Uruguayan chess players on boards one to four respectively.
