The news agency, citing government sources, said on Wednesday that the Iranian ship called the Lana is expected to retrieve its cargo and sail off this week following the ruling which had come to the Greek government’s knowledge a day earlier.
The Lana, formerly Pegas, remained under arrest off the Greek island of Evia for more than two months.
The vessel was tugged to Piraeus after Greek authorities approved its release earlier this month following a court ruling that overturned an earlier verdict which had allowed the US to confiscate Iranian oil.
Greece’s seizure of the vessel angered Iran which called the move international piracy and said that Athens had detained the tanker under US pressure.
Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Greek envoy to Tehran to convey its strong protest, and warned of "punitive measures" in response.
