Raisi and Faisal Mekdad held talks on Wednesday here in the capital Tehran.
The Iranian president expressed confidence that the patience and resistance of the Syrian people will pay off and they will have a bright future.
He recalled a remark by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei that the United States should leave Syria.
Raisi added that the US pullout from the eastern Euphrates and the entire West Asia is the main solution to the crises in the region.
Mekdad, on his part, briefed President Raisi on the current political and security situation in Syria.
The top diplomat said that the Syrian government is determined to resolve the country’s problems and has put on agenda the required political initiatives to achieve that goal.
He also thanked Iran for hosting the trilateral summit on the Syrian conflict on Tuesday, saying that views of the Iranian Supreme Leader and the president indicate the alliance between Tehran and Damascus.
The summit, jointly held by the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey, took place within the framework of the Astana peace process that the three parties launched in 2017.
The Astana process is aimed at finding a political solution to the Syrian conflict which broke out in 2011 and dragged on due to Western support for terror groups fighting the government in Damascus.
The Tuesday summit emphasized that the conflict had no military solution, with the three presidents pledging to continue working together to combat terrorism in all forms.
