Built during the Sassanid Empire, Arg-e Bam or Bam Citadel is the world's largest adobe construction. It is located in Kerman Province in southern Iran. The construction is an example of a defensive structure in ancient Persia. The citadel was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 2003 and was listed among world heritage sites in danger by UNESCO. However, it is now elicited from the list thanks to the restoration efforts.
