President Raisi made the remarks prior to his flight to Turkmenistan to attend the 6th summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states.
The president is taking part in the summit at the invitation of his Turkmen counterpart.
In his remarks, the president said over 270 million people use this sea.
About his Turkmenistan visit, President Raisi said issues of the Caspian Sea legal regime convention, transportation, trade, and environment are to be discussed at the summit.
Also, the non-acceptance of the presence of foreigners in the Caspian Sea on which the littoral countries have agreed will be reviewed, the president underlined.
As he noted, bilateral meetings with other counterparts are planned in Turkmenistan.
The president also said Iran and Turkmenistan have enjoyed good ties during the past three decades.
Meanwhile, he also said that the pandemic had caused obstacles to bilateral cooperation in recent months.
Fortunately, today the trade and economic exchange between Tehran and Ashgabat have enhanced, he added.
Earlier this morning, President Raisi left for Turkmenistan.
