Damascus, IRNA – The Syrian government gives importance to collaboration with the Iranian companies in terms of technological cooperation, Syria's Minister of Communications and Technology Iyad al-Khatib said.

The Syrian minister told IRNA correspondent on the side of Syria Hi-Tech Expo 2022 on Sunday that the Iranian firms have been provided with a set of regulations and facilitation to conduct their jobs in communications and technology of the Arab country.

Pointing to the high number of Iranian firms active in Syria, the minister noted that a big number of Iranian companies are carrying out different projects in the Arab nation and that they have accomplished some of the projects so far.

Damascus has paved the way for active Iranian companies in Syria to easily work in the country, he said, adding that the services and facilitation have been proposed by the Syrian Government to promote Iranians to expand their activities in Syria.

As to his ministry's coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran, al-Khatib said that the Syrian ministry has good cooperation with the Iranian one in terms of distance consultations.

It is worth mentioning that Iranian firms active in technology and communications have provided Syria with their own capabilities and know-how to implement the reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed during the 11 years of war with terrorists; therefore, the Iranians' efforts have been welcomed by Syrian authorities and companies and they prioritize cooperation with Iranian firms.

Following the beginning of the crisis in Syria in March 2011, the Arab country witnessed numerous destruction and losses, especially in infrastructure, as well as software and hardware equipment, which caused backwardness in the country's communications, while it was in a good shape in this respect before the war.

But after the decline of the flame of war and the failure of terrorist groups, Syria has prioritized reconstructing and upgrading of its infrastructure. Now the country holds the eighth edition of the Hi-Tech Expo.

The Syria Hi-Tech Expo 2022 kicked off on June 23 and will finish on June 27.

Participants from 20 countries representing 180 local and international brands presented their services and commodities at 70 pavilions.

Some 15 companies from Iran participated in the Syrian Hi-Tech exhibition at Damascus Fair Grounds.

The unique opportunity brought together various companies from different countries as well as enthusiastic visitors to exchange experiences and find a platform for future cooperation.
