According to the Petroleum Ministry news agency, SHANA, the Nigerian Oil Ministry representative, Festus Ajai an Onomita Yutang, met and conferred with the Head of TOGTIP Mohammad-Esmail Kefayati and his deputy Mohammad-Saber Karambeigi.
In the meeting, Iran’s capabilities in training oil and gas technicians and engineers, exchange of university students, and transfer of technology to Nigeria were elaborated for the Nigerian side.
The Nigerian delegation, too, talked about their needs in refinery and petrochemical industries.
The two sides in this meeting emphasized need for broadening cooperation in oil and gas fields, as it is mentioned in the memorandum of understanding (MOU) document during the past days’ visit of the Nigerian delegation to Iran.
According to one of the articles of the MOU, the TOGTIP has accepted to be engaged in technology transfer and training through the Petroleum Ministry's International and Commercial Affairs Deputy.
Nigeria has spectacular capacities for receiving Iranian technological and engineering capabilities in lower stream refinery and petrochemical industries, because the Nigerian refinery and petrochemical complexes in that country are very few and the Nigeria needs much more of them keeping in mind its huge volume of oil and gas production.
