Iran Newspaper published a memo written by Bijan Abdi, an economist, on Sunday, who stipulated:
The decline of hegemonic power of the United States and its allies in last two decades, as well as their long-term economic recession, prompted them to retreat from crises hubs that they themselves created around the world.
Thus, the Western front has tried to replace physical conflicts with software leverages such as media and economic wars.
The most effective means that the US and its allies are utilizing to put pressures on other countries is imposition of sanctions via the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication SWIFT.
With the use of SWIFT system, they hinder access to financial resources and get in the way of exports and imports by such countries.
Moreover, the US and its allies control cyberspace; therefore, they use software to sabotage economic and financial networks of that states.
As expected, the US and is allies intensified sanctions on Russia following the beginning of Russians' military operation in Ukraine. They have frozen Russia's dollar-based assets and halted implementation of Russian economic contracts such as Nord Stream 2 - a system of offshore natural gas pipelines in Europe, running under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany.
The point is that intensification of sanctions on Russia has provided Tehran with an opportunity to enhance economic and financial exchanges with Moscow. The situation can help expand Iranian exports to Russia and also urge Russians to develop the level of economic, financial and energy collaborations with neighboring states, including Iran.
Given the trade restrictions between Russia and Europe, the implementation of the International North–South Transport Corridor is expected to speed up; so, Kremlin would give importance to transit of commodities via the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman.
The anti-Russia sanctions is expected to pave the ground for Iran to finalize accession to regional organizations and alliances such as the Shanghai Cooperation Council (SCO). Cooperation in internet atmosphere and formation of regional internet network can be other advantages of the current situation. The regional nations can create bilateral and multilateral monetary alliances in order to get rid of negative impacts of the Western sanction policy.
Another opportunity is that Russia can diversify export items to neighboring and regional states. Iran can be provided with Russian advanced technologies in aerospace and Heavy industry.
In the end, it is worth mentioning that Russia can use Iranians' experiences in foiling sanctions.
