Baku, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev in a meeting in Azerbaijan's capital on Wednesday discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the Azeri president noted that exchanges of diplomatic delegations between the two countries are of special significance.  

President Aliev referred to a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of an ECO Summit in Ashgabat where he said they underlined the need for taking further steps to boost bilateral relations in all areas.  

Noting that a wide range of issues is on the agenda of Iran-Azerbaijan relations, the Azeri president said he was sure that bilateral relations between the two countries will yield fruit.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of President Raisi to his Azeri counterpart.

Amirabdollahian said that the talks between the two presidents in Ashgabat were a turning point in relations between the two neighboring countries.
