Tehran, IRNA – Chairman of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh stressed the need for expansion of relations between Iran and Uzbekistan in all areas.

Nouri Ghezeljeh is on a visit to Uzbekistan to supervise the country’s presidential election.

He made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber Noureddine Jan Ismailov.   

He expressed hope that the country’s upcoming election will be held successfully.

The Iranian Member of Parliament called for the promotion of parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent in various economic and transit areas and on the Afghan issue as well.  

The Uzbek side, for his part, urged the need for further consultations between officials from both countries.

During the meeting, Nouri Ghezeljeh conveyed an invitation message of Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to his Uzbek counterpart.
