Aziz Hasanovic , president of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Tuesday.
Pointing to the title of the conference as “Islamic Unity, Peace and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the World of Islam,” Hasanovic argued that the subject is very important, but it should be said a real unity will come true whenever bloodshed stops.
There are some groups, who are engaged in wars and crimes, but they pretend that they are committing crimes under the name of Islam, he said, adding that all real Muslims should stand against such elements.
The real Muslims should shout the fact that "the Islamic world is the land of friendship and love; so, we should not allow the arrogant powers to create discord", he said.
"Today, we the Muslims are tasked with enhancing unity more than ever and make effort to expel the arrogant enemy from the Muslim soil," the Mufti added.
Ishagh Madani, a member of the high council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, said that Muslim scholars try to promote unity in the Islamic world, but in fact authorities of countries are the one who have the opportunity and might to pursue solidarity, while officials of Iran are the only ones who use their might to help preserve unity.
Ziyad al-Nakhalah, leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, warned that the Western colonialist powers have created different challenges such as siege, war and conflict in order to target followers of the holy religion of Islam.
