Speaking to reporters on the closed briefing session with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Mousavi said that developments in West Asia and Iran’s neighbor countries in recent weeks and months were of importance for the public opinion and the Parliament, so the Foreign Minister was invited to discuss the issue with the MPs.
Elections in Iraq, the situation in Afghanistan, developments in Syria and Lebanon, and movements of the US and the Israeli regime in the region and Iran’s neighbor countries were among the issues discussed, Mousavi noted.
Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian has said that Iran was sending 35 cultural and economic attachés to Asian, African, and Latin American countries to expand economic ties, according to Mousavi.
Mousavi stated that Iran’s policy in the region was based on non-intervention of enemies and transregional forces and the fact that people in the region should solve their problems on their own.
On the talks to lift illegal sanctions imposed by the US, the lawmaker said that Iran has adopted various strategies in this regard, including negotiations with three European counties as mediator and then talks with 5+1 (6 world powers) that led to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), informally known as Iran nuclear deal.
Iran needs to more carefully review past models for negotiations and then choose one for the upcoming talks, he noted.
He said that Iran would adopt the best model chosen through collaboration between the administration, the Parliament, and the agencies concerned in accordance with the policies formulated by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
