Tehran, IRNA – An expert on West Asia said that the United States couldn’t obstruct parliamentary elections in Iraq, while Muslim, Shia, and Resistance movements managed to win majority of seats.

In an interview with IRNA, Reza Sadrolhosseini said that the holding of elections per se was an achievement for Iraq because Americans made a lot of effort to postpone the event.

Another achievement was that Muslim and Shia movements and those affiliated to the Axis of Resistance could gain majority of seats in Iraqi parliament, he added.

Sadrol-Hosseini also said that the US of was planning to provoke unrest over the outcome of the recent elections in Iraq, saying that another achievement for Iraqi people was that the US failed to do so.

The recent elections put on display Iraqi people’s political maturity which led to the holding of election in safety despite threats from terrorist groups.
