Tehran, IRNA – Iranian national Greco-Roman team’s 97 kg wrestler Mohamad-Hadi Saravi beating his Hungarian competitor in the Oslo 2021 Greco-Roman World Match in final to win the team’s first gold medal.

Amir Ali-Akbari was the last world gold medal winner in this weight.

The 2021 Greco-Roman competitions that began on October 7 will end tomorrow (Sunday) after announcing the world top wrestlers and teams.

The ranking and final matches of the 60, 97, and 130 kg weights began at 7:30 p.m. today at Jordal Wrestling Hall of Oslo, Norway.

Saravi had earlier this year won the Tokyo Olympics bronze medal, the bronze of the world youth, the silver medal of the world singles, the gold of the world youth, and the gold medal of the Asian Wrestling.

Iran’s other athlete 130 kg weight Iranian national freestyle athlete Ali Akbar Yusefi in the final match of his weight defeated his Russian competitor to gain the Iranian wrestling history’s first, and the Iranian Greco-Roman team’s 2nd gold medal in Norway.

Ali-Akbar Yusefi thus registered his name as the first heavy weight Iranian finalist to win the gold medal in past 60 years and make wonder.

Tomorrow, too, Iran’s 67 kg weight athlete will face the EU silver medal holder Nazi Abolayev from Russia in the final, while Iran’s other wrestler, Meysam Delkhai will face Larry Abuladze, the EU bronze medal holder from Georgia in the final.
