Tehran, IRNA – Amir-Hossein Zare, Iran’s 125 kg weight athlete in Oslo, Norway, 2021 World Wrestling Championship beat Georgia’s Gno Petriashvili, not only to make up for losing to him in Olympics, but also making history by winning the 125 kg weight category gold for Iran after 2332 years.

The world wrestling competitions in Oslo which began on September 25 will end on October 10.

The final and qualification matches of the first four weights began at 7:30 pm, Tehran time.

Zare faced Petriashvili, the silver and bronze Olympic and three world medals winner from Georgia.

Zare’s youth power, talent and pre-planned moves in this match helped him both push his strong rival leave the mattress and fall down, and eventually turn the final score to very decisive 9-2 in his favor.

Zare’s gold medal was the Iranian National Freestyle Team’s 2nd gold in this year’s world matches.
