The Secretary General of the Iraqi Kurdistan Islamic Unity Party Salaheddin Muhammad Bahaeddin on Tuesday met and conferred with the Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hojjatoleslam Hamid Shahriari.
Shahriari in the meeting initially elaborated on the WFPIST and presented a brief history of its past secretary-generals and the issue of Islamic unity and the four steps taken to achieve it.
He said that the religious and cultural commonalties between the Iraqi Kurdistan region and Iran can serve to strengthen cooperation that can lead to achieving the Islamic unity objectives.
The Secretary General of the Iraqi Kurdistan Islamic Unity Party Salaheddin Muhammad Bahaeddin, too, in the meeting referred to his party’s past cooperation record with the WFPIST, particularly during the late Ayatollah Taskhiri’s heading of the forum.
“But during the past two years due to the outspread of the coronavirus pandemic the sphere of this cooperation has decreased,” he added.
Salaheddin Muhammad Bahaeddin said that despite the existence of followers of various religions in Iraqi Kurdistan the solidarity and peaceful coexistence among them and even with the different Iraqi tribes is excellent.
