Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Sunday that Iran feels no limit for further promotion of economic and trade relations with Sri Lanka.

Raisi made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with the new Sri Lankan Ambassador to Iran, Wishwanath Aponsu, where the new ambassador submitted his credentials to the Iranian president.

He expressed hope that the two countries can take new steps in the enhancement of relations with the launch of a joint economic cooperation commission.

The Sri Lankan ambassador, for his part, referred to longstanding relations between the two countries, saying Sri Lanka has always supported the Iranian government and nations in international organizations.

Aponsu also called for further expansion of bilateral cooperation in different energy, trade and commercial areas.
