Amir Ali Hamidiyeh told IRNA on Saturday that Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Syria, and Lebanon are among the countries whose patients visit Iran for transplant.
He said that although Iran have many requests from foreign patients, due to an insufficient number of transplant beds, it is not able to respond to many of the requests.
Because there are many requests from foreign countries for hematopoietic stem cell transplant in Iran, the necessary conditions for health tourism should be provided for foreign patients, he added.
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the stem cells that give rise to other blood cells, a process called haematopoiesis.
