Ilam, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, arriving in Ilam province, expressed hope that the first visit by his administration to the region will pave the way for ending deprivation in the province.

President Raisi arrived in Ilam province on Friday morning. He pointed to the neighborliness of the province to Iraq, saying that activating border markets will help boost trade exchanges in the region.
Attaching importance to the competent manpower of the province as its special capacity, the president noted that Ilam has the capability to activate agricultural and industrial fields.
He further apologized the people of Ilam province for preventing from public meetings due to the coronavirus situation.
The chief executive also expressed gratitude to the people, who played key role in defending the country during the eight years of sacred defense of Iraqi Baathist-imposed war on Iran.
The people of Ilam stood against the Baathist enemies and dedicated numerous martyrs to Islam and the Revolution, he added.
The Friday visit happens following provincial trips by some authorities, who traveled to Ilam province to review problems of the people, Raisi said, noting that he will hold talks with provincial officials to resolve the issues.
President Raisi arrived in Ilam city on Friday as his fourth provincial trip. He is accompanied by some cabinet members during the one-day visit. Some provincial officials and figures welcomed him at the Shohada Airport in Ilam.
He is going to meet a few people and elite, participate in administrative session and hold a news conference.
President Raisi has visited the three provinces of Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan as well as North Khorasan so far.
