Hossein Amirabdollahian in the continuations of his bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 76th UN General Assembly had a meeting with Jean Asselborn, the foreign minister of Luxembourg.
The Iranian foreign minister in the meeting praised Luxembourg’s efforts aimed at improving the level of ties, telling his counterpart that he respects Luxembourg highly.
Amirabdollahian, meanwhile, elaborated on Iran’s balanced foreign policy in the new government, announcing the Iranian government’s readiness for reviewing its relations with Europe aimed at improving them, based on rules of mutual respect and ensuring mutual interests.
Turning to Iran’s nuclear talks with the world powers, he said: Iran had for many years remained fully committed to its obligations within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but the other sides had in various ways deviated from their commitments.
“The United States, in particular, had broad and vast scale deviation, and the EU troika, too, was inflicted with inaction and indifference in fulfilling its JCPOA commitments,” he added.
The minister of foreign affairs of Luxembourg, too, in the meeting congratulated his Iranian counterpart and wished him success in his new responsibility.
Jean Asselborn referred to his three previous visits to Iran and the broad potentials for elevation of bilateral trade and business.
He also announced Luxembourg’s readiness for broader bilateral consultations aimed at revival of the JCPOA.
