Maragheh, IRNA - Iranian actor Hadi Eftekharzadeh has won a runner-up prize for his role in the drama “Charcoal” (“Komur”) at a Spanish film festival.

The artist has received the second-best actor award at the ImagineIndia International Film Festival in Madrid.

The story of the cinematic work is set in rural northwestern Iran, where Gheirat, a modest charcoal producer, is pushed into a tragic spiral after his son, sentenced to jail, flees to Azerbaijan.

The 86-minute fiction has been written and directed by Esmaeel Monsef.

Born in Maragheh city in 1967, Eftekharzadeh won the best actor award at the 45th Festival of Nations — a short film festival in Austria — for his role in 'The Cemetery Men' in 2017.
