Iranians in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, attended a special ceremony at the mosque in diplomatic enclave on Wednesday night with the presence of Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, heads of Iranian institutions, head of Imam Hossein Educational Complex, embassy staff and their families.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Karim Mansouri, the international reciter of Iran, and some praises for Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
Allama Amin Shaheedi, a well-known Pakistani Shiite scholar also spoke at the ceremony and highlighted the importance of Ghadir incident.
He said the rightful successor of the Messenger of God, Imam Ali (AS), has always been a perfect model for humanity, and his blessed existence is the asset for unity, and Muslims should follow he way of Amir al-Muminin (AS) to achieve success.
On the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah on the Islamic lunar calendar, Shia Muslims across the world observe Eid al-Ghadir.
It is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of announcement of wilayat of Imam Ali (AS).
Ghadir-e-Khum is a place between Mecca and Medina where Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), the last Prophet of Allah, had given a sermon to the pilgrims after Hajjatul Widaa, his last pilgrim to the House of Allah in Mecca.
In that sermon on Zilhajj 18, 10 A.H., he announced wilayat of Imam Ali (AS).
Different programs were held across Pakistan where the speakers explained the historical event of Ghadir.
The culture centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta Peshawar and Multan also celebrated Eid al-Ghadir with the presence of Pakistani Shiites and Iranians living in the provinces.
Pakistani Shiites decorated mosques and held special prayers to mark the event.
