Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said on Tuesday that demonstrating authority, capability, and self-reliance was the main message of the Iranian navy's presence in the Gulf of Finland and the Russian Navy parades.

Briefing on the historical presence of the Iranian naval forces in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Finland, the commander said that the decision to take such a tour followed a message by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei seven years ago when the Leader called for the promotion of navigation.

Khanzadi said that Iran’s presence in the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, and the Gulf of Finland was of prime importance as it happened for the first time and led to opening new gates to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Noting that the Iranian naval forces used to navigate only in the Persian Gulf and then up to the Gulf of Aden, the commander said that now the Iranian forces have navigated for three months and it will take them the same time to come back home.

Khanzadi said that the long tour of the Iranian forces proved that Iran is able to provide support for its forces in remote areas.
