Writing on his personal Twitter account, Mousavi said Iran has been seeking a secure and stable Afghanistan.
He added that security and stability in Afghanistan would not be possible unless the rights and status of all races and religions are ensured in a national document (a constitutional law).
Mousavi, who is also the director of the West Asia Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, voiced concern about the future of Afghanistan’s Shia Muslim community.
He, however, said that this concern comes from Iran’s call for peace and security in Afghanistan which will be only possible when a constitutional law guarantees the rights of all races and religions.
Growing tensions in Afghanistan following the advance of Taliban forces in different cities and villages have given a rise to threats about a looming civil war in the country.
