In his speech in the UN General Assembly’s virtual session on fighting corruption on Wednesday, Avaei pointed to elapse of 20 years from the approval of Convention against Corruption and praised the timely holding of the current session.
The Justice Minister emphasized that Iran would remain committed to preventing and criminaling of corruption and international cooperation in realizing the objectives determined in the declaration.
He also highlighted the importance of focusing measures that disturb international cooperation, saying that the most important example of such measures was about giving back tainted assets.
Hurdles against giving back tainted assets to the country of origin, should it be political will of the host country or illegitimate sanctions, must be removed, Avaei underscored.
