Tehran, May 24, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran has succeeded in getting rid of dependence on centralized oil terminals as the development project of the Goreh-Jask pipeline will be completed within the coming days.

"Iran" newspaper published a memo written by Nersi Ghorban, an energy expert and economic analyst, on Monday. The following is his script on the project: "During the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988), Iran's only oil terminal was located in Khark island and the Iraqi enemies were well aware that the export terminal was completely strategic for the Iranians; so, Iraq pounded the island more than 2,840 times, while the war lasted 2,888 days.

In recent years, there have been some speculations about the potential closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and possible clashes among littoral states of the Persian Gulf.

Now, it has been said that the first phase of a project has come to the end, which can bolster stability of Iran's oil export flow. The Goreh-Jask pipeline and its export terminal in eastern region of the Strait of Hormuz will provide the Islamic Republic with the opportunity to export crude oil via Sea of Oman.

The Iranian authorities have announced that the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) will kick off transferring the first shipment of crude via the Goreh-Jask pipeline to international markets in coming days.

Iran has spent nearly two billion dollars to construct the 1,000-kilometer-long pipeline, which is planned to transfer 350,000 bpd. When the capacity of the pipeline reaches to one million bpd, the Islamic country will be able to transfer half of its export oil from this new terminal.
After the US-imposed sanctions halted cooperation of other countries with Iran to develop such a big project, the Iranians succeeded in completing the project by relying on their own capabilities.

As a result of the endeavor, the oil industry of Iran provided more than 200 Iranian companies with opportunities to work during the sanction period. The project also paved the way for developing southeastern Iran."
