COVID-19 death toll reaches 853 in Iran

Tehran, March 16, IRNA – The head of the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said on Monday that 14,991 Iranians have been infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran and 853 of them have succumbed to death.

Kianoush Jahanpour went on to say that 4,996 infected Iranians have recovered so far.

The official pointed out that the number of laboratories aiming at the diagnosis of the disease has reached 56 in the country.

Iran has taken numerous steps to stop the spread of the disease, from shutting down schools and universities to canceling cultural and religious gatherings. It is also constantly disinfecting and sanitizing public places.
