Tehran, March 27, IRNA – Division among followers of various sects of Islam threatens creation of new Islamic civilization, senior Iranian official said on Wednesday.

The Islamic communities are suffering from division which is a serious threat to the Islamic civilization, Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi said.

He made the remarks in the Ibn Khaldon Center for Humanities and Social Sciences in Qatar.

Kharrazi referred to the role of the Islamic civilization in advancing the world in various fields of science and noted that this shows the capabilities of Islamic society in creation of a new civilization.

He described the Islamic civilization as the common identity of all Muslims in the world which its promotion is at the interest of all Muslims.

The official urged religious scholars, academics and media in the Islamic World to hold consultations and engage in dialogue to revive the new Islamic civilization.
