Zahedan, Feb 13, IRNA – In an armed conflict police forces seized 1.739 tons of opium, Sistan and Baluchestan Province police commander brigadier general Mohammad Ghanbari said on Tuesday.

After being informed of the smugglers’ aim to transfer and distribute illegal drugs from Sib and Suran town to Iranshahr city, police put on the agenda investigating them, Ghanbari said.

After doing intensive investigations, police identified 2 cars in one of the ways leading to Sib and Suran town, he added.

The smugglers were arrested with narcotics as well as 2 weapons and some ammunition, he noted.
