Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Prov., Feb 4, IRNA – The Parviz Khan Border Terminal started its operation on the third day of the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies, marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, in the presence of Road and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhundi.

The passenger and commercial terminal of Parviz Khan is under construction in an area of 14 hectares of which 3,700 square meters is allocated to the passenger terminal.



Construction of export terminal of Parviz Khan official border started in 1390 (2011-2012) which is equipped with a commercial hall in 2,500 square meters, passenger hall in 3,700 square meters and administration establishment in 1,600 square meters.



A fund of 330 billion rials has been allocated for the construction of the terminal of which 200 billion rials has been expended so far.



Meanwhile, the commercial terminal with 2,500 square meters is under construction which has so far has a progress of 50% and will become operational in summer 1394 (2015).



An average 150 passengers of the Iraqi Kurdistan pass through Parviz Khan Border on daily basis and with the opening of the passenger terminal the number will increase remarkably.



Also, 20 Iranian and Iraqi vehicles pass through the border by using temporary passage plate numbers.



Eight hundreds trucks load of different fruits and vegetables, construction materials, household appliances, cake and biscuit, dried fruits and nuts, and dairy products are exported to Iraqi Kurdistan through Parviz Khan Border.



The border Qasr-e Shirn City is situated on west of Kermanshah Province and has 186 km joint border with Iraq along which there are two border passages of Parviz Khan and Khosravi. The city has a population of over 27,000.



More than 50% of Iran’s export commodities are transferred to Iraq through Parviz Khan.
