Berlin, Dec 2, IRNA – An exhibition of the Iranian victims of chemical weapons is being held on the sidelines of the 19th annual meeting of the organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, The Netherlands, it was reported on Monday.

The OPCW is an intergovernmental organization, located in The Hague, which promotes and verifies the adherence to the Chemical Weapons Convention which prohibits the use of chemical weapons and requires their destruction.



The Iranian exhibition was inaugurated on Monday in a ceremony attended by Iran's Ambassador to the OPCW Alireza Jahangiri.



The display is aimed at informing participants of the OPCW's gathering of the destructive effects of using chemical weapons against other countries and tries to revive memories of victims of chemical weapons in Iran at an international level.



Iran's mission in Hague holds the exhibition each year on the sidelines of the OPCW annual meeting to display how chemical weapons against innocent people affects their lives. The exhibition is highly welcomed by participants of the OPCW's annual meeting each year.



The 19th meeting of the OPCW will continue for five days. An Iranian delegation is also attending the event.



Iran's Ambassador to OPCW, Jahangiri, was elected by the group of Asian countries as the vice-chairman of the 19th gathering for a one-year term.
