He is a prosecutor and politician who has served at different positions and cabinet posts.
He was educated in jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, and philosophy.
He also completed his education in extra-jurisprudence and principles and holds a level four jurisprudence and Islamic law degree, which is equivalent to a PhD.
Pourmohammadi was prosecutor of the Revolutionary Court from 1979 to 1986.
He was appointed deputy intelligence minister in 1986.
In 2005, Pourmohammadi was appointed interior minister by former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. His term ended in 2008.
Then Pourmohammadi was appointed head of Iran's general inspectorate office.
