Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – Shahid Hasheminejad (Khangiran) gas refining capacity will rise to 60 million cubic meters a day next year after setting up sweetening unit.

Shahid Hasheminejad refinery has refined 3.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first quarter of current Iranian year, up by eight percent compared with similar period last year.

According to Managing director of Hasheminejad gas processing plant, Masoud Hasani, total gas intake of the plant, whether sour or sweet , amounts to 57 million cubic meters a day.

"Gas intake of the plant will rise by 10 million cubic meters reaching 67 million cubic meters a day after completion of a development plan," he said.

On sulfur production by the plant, he noted that sulfur production capacity of Hasheminejad gas processing plant stands at 2,600 tons a day even though actual production is 2,000 tons.

"The plant produced 139,150 tons of sulfur during the first quarter of the current year," Hassani said, adding the volume has grown by six percent compared with similar period last year.

He referred to gas liquids as another product of the plant saying that Hasheminejad gas processing plant’s gas liquids production rose from 24,615 tons in first quarter of last year to 32,838 tons in the first quarter of this year.

Shahid Hasheminejad gas processing plant as the only refining facility in eastern part of Iran is fed by gas reserves located in Khangiran near Sarakhs city, 165 kilometers east of Mashhad City, capital of Khorasan Razavi province.

The facility supplies gas to six provinces of the country and produces variety of products including naphtha, kerosene, gasoil and raw gasoline.
