Iran's Zoroastrians celebrate Sadeh festival in Kerman
Zoroastrians in Iran celebrated Jashn-e Sadeh in Kerman and Yazd provinces, in center and south of the country, on January 30, 2023. Researchers say that Sadeh, related to the Persian word Sad, meaning hundred, is a mid-winter festival in which Zoroastrians celebrate 100 days that have passed from the start of the winter and 50 days and 50 nights that remain until the start of the spring. Zoroastrians also believe that Sadeh is the day on which the fire was discovered by an ancient Iranian king. (Photos by IRNA/Abouzar Ahmadizadeh and Majid Jarrahi)
