Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi was the eighth president of Iran who was elected to run the country in the 13th presidential election in 2021. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday (May 19, 2024) along with Hossein Amirabdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyyed Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz, Malek Rahmati Governor-General of East Azerbaijan, Seyed Mehdi Mousavi, head of the presidential protection team and pilots and flight crew was martyred in a plane crash upon return from Khoda'afarin Dam and on their way to Tabriz Oil Refinery in Varzghan District of East Azarbaijan Province.

Funeral held for martyr General Mohammedreza Zahedi
The funeral ceremony for the martyred General Mohammedreza Zahedi was held on April 6, 2024 with the presence of people and officials from Bozorgmehr square towards Isfahan Martyrs Golestan. General Mohammadreza Zahedi along with his comrades were martyred on April 1, 2024, in an attack of the Zionist regime on the consulate of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria.

Iran receives bodies of 34 Sacred Defense martyrs
The bodies of 34 martyrs of Iran’s Sacred Defense, which marks the eight-year war with Iraq’s former Baath regime in the 1980s, were returned to the country on Monday, February 19. The bodies were recently discovered in Iraq, and were returned to Iran through Shalamcheh border crossing, where war veterans and groups of people from the nearby cities of Abadan and Khorramshahr were present.

Iranians bid farewell to 5 advisors martyred by Israel
People in Tehran have bid farewell to five Iranian military advisors who were martyred in a Saturday Israeli airstrike in the Syrian capital Damascus. Mourners held the ceremony on Sunday night for the five martyred advisors of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), namely Hojjatollah Omidvar, Ali Aqazadeh, Hossein Mohammadi, Saeed Karimi, and Mohammad Amin Samadi.

Farewell to 22 schoolmates martyred in Kerman blasts
A ceremony was held in Kerman, southern Iran, on January 6, 2024, in commemoration of 22 school students who were killed in the city after the Wednesday suicide attacks in an area near the burial site of General Qassem Soleimani whose martyrdom anniversary was on January 3. The students were killed when they, along with their family members, had attended the ceremony in Kerman to mark General Soleimani who was assassinated by the US forces in Iraq in 2020. The terrorist group Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the Kerman twin explosions which killed over 90.

Funeral and burial held for unknown martyr in Tehran
The remains of an unknown martyr of Iran’s 1980s war with Iraq was buried in the premises of the former US embassy in Iran, a building known as Den of Espionage located in central Tehran, after a funeral was held in the facility for the martyr on December 19, 2023.
