Astara, IRNA- Iran and Azerbaijan have inaugurated a key cross-border bridge over the Astara River to facilitate transit of goods between the two countries.

Opening ceremony for Astara-Astara cross-border bridge
The Astara-Astara cross-border bridge was opened on December 30, 2023 in a ceremony held in the northern Iranian city of Astara in the presence of Iran’s transportation minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev who serve as co-chairs of Iran-Azerbaijan intergovernmental committee of economic cooperation.

Official: Iran to start construction of Rasht-Astara railway soon
Tehran, IRNA - Deputy Roads and Urban Development Minister Shahriar Afandi-Zadeh said that Iran will take loan from the Russian government for construction of Rasht-Astara railway and based on the agreement the project will start at the beginning of 2024.

Iran’s rail exchange with Azerbaijan up 63%
Tehran, IRNA – An official in the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways said that imports, exports, and transit through the Astara border with the Republic of Azerbaijan have increased by 63% since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year.
