In 2009, the Bushehr University of Medical Science planted mangrove saplings in a laboratory, and then they were planted near residential buildings. After a while, 24,000 saplings were planted on Qeshm Island and the entrance of Bushehr city, all of which have turned into trees. Then, Rashad Moradi, an Iranian environment activist, planted over 150k mangrove saplings. Mangrove forests can help stabilize the coastline ecosystem and reduce erosion.
