Maharlu is a lake in southern Iran whose color turns pinkish-red due to red seaweed and algae existing in the lake's floor. The color turns dark pink with evaporation of more water from Maharlu, a salt lake located 25 kilometers southeast of Shiraz, the capital of southern Iranian province of Fars. The lake is main source of salt supply in the region. (IRNA photos/Reza Ghaderi)
