Tehran, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf says the Islamic Republic should chart its path after a close study of its success and failures in the last Persian-calendar year.
In a message on the occasion of the Persian New Year on Thursday, Qalibaf said the last calendar year teemed with incidents and an “accurate, correct, and meticulous assessment” was needed of the year’s successes and failures.
In the next, he said, everyone should aim for national unity and refrain from anything that harms convergence.
Officials, including lawmakers, should strive to resolve the difficulties faced by people, including their depleted purchasing power, he said.
“If people are strengthened, the enemies’ antagonism would be neutered,” Qalibaf said.
The Parliament speaker also referred to the designation of the new year by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as year of “investments for production” and said a pre-requisite for that objective was providing legal and judicial security for investment, which he said the government should help facilitate.
