More than 70 Palestinians, including many women and children, were killed in predawn Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army carried out massive airstrikes in the north and south of the besieged Palestinian territory before dawn on Thursday, killing at least 71 people, Al Jazeera reported.
Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza early on Tuesday, when more than 400 Palestinians were killed in a wave of attacks on residential buildings and makeshift shelters.
The renewed attacks shattered a fragile ceasefire with Hamas that had been in place since January 19.
The Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Wednesday that at least 970 people had been killed in indiscriminate Israeli bombings in just two days.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the new wave of airstrikes was “only the beginning,” as he promised that Israeli forces would continue to pound the Palestinian territory with “full force.”
In a major escalation, the Israeli army launched what it called a “limited ground operation” to reclaim control of part of the Netzarim corridor, a key strategic strip of land that cuts Gaza in half.
As part of the ceasefire, Israel had withdrawn its forces from the area.
